BADDOGS

THE KINGDOM OF SEKAI

PRSK White Day AU

There’s an urgency about their movements. As she jumps onto the grass, she stumbles, and is caught by her brother. They need to escape, even if it means leaving everyone behind. They’re in more danger than she ever thought possible. She’s shaking as they run, using the night as their cover. She’s scared, and almost screams, when her brother is grabbed unexpectedly by a figure. The cloaked figure puts a finger up to their face, the universal sign for ‘quiet,’ and urges them to follow.

Her brother looks behind, back at her, and outstretches his hand as the figure begins to walk away. Trust me his body language says, and isn't it just that easy? To trust your own flesh and blood without question? The figure guides them through the winding streets, and after an hour or so of avoiding guards and the few drunkards returning home, they escape the Territory’s walls. Far enough away that no prying eyes, or hidden ears will ever report back to the castle. Finally, the figure puts their hood down, and all that was confusing, suddenly makes sense.

The sun rises. The castle begins to stir earlier than what's expected. The princess's retainer walks as quickly as she can towards her destination. Three rapid knocks break the tense silence. After two minutes of no answer, she turns the doorknob and lets herself in. Her stomach drops seeing the open window, empty bed, and scattered belongings in the normally pristine room. She turns, hearing someone-- ah. No, not just someone. The prince’s retainer-- hustle in. He looks pale, and she already knows he was met with the same emptiness the princess’s room exhibits.

“They’re both gone,” he says, sounding bewildered as his eyes land on every out-of-place object in the room, “How the hell are they both gone?”
